Staff Picks: Our Favorite Coins in the Case Right Now
Between what walks in the door and what we hunt down for the case, a lot of great coins pass through the shop — and a few are hard not to keep. Here are three NGC-graded favorites in the case right now. See our coins page for how buying, selling, and pawning coins works with us, and our coin collectors guide if you want to dig into key dates and grading. All sales are in-store only — come see them in person.

1935-S San Diego Half Dollar — NGC MS 65
A classic silver commemorative struck for the California Pacific International Exposition, in blast-white mint state. The seated Minerva obverse is one of the prettier designs of the era, and MS 65 examples are getting harder to find with clean surfaces.
$150.00

1936-S Buffalo Nickel — NGC MS 67
A superb gem — MS 67 is rarefied air for a Buffalo nickel, with full luster and a needle-sharp strike. One of the most beloved American designs, in about as nice a state as you will ever see one.
$600.00

Athens Owl Tetradrachm, c. 440–404 BC — NGC Ch AU
Over 2,400 years old — the famous silver owl of Athens, with the helmeted head of Athena on the front and her owl on the back. This tetradrachm grades Choice AU with a 5/5 strike, and it's the kind of coin you can hold and feel history. The same design circulated when the Parthenon was new!
